Hey everyone. What kind of video editing software do you use to make your videos? Is it all just Microsoft Movie Maker or anyone have Adobe Premier or whatever? I am just curious to see what others use and if they even understand how to use a lot of it. Because I am just learning. Any help would be appreciated.
I use Pinnacle. Not sure I like it. I am looking for something more robust. I would love to hear what others use or thier experience with other software.
I used to use Adobe Premier when I had access to it in my New Media classes in College, but now I'm using Microsoft Movie Maker. Premier was really nice and could do way more than I could possibly use. Movie Maker is fine for simple edits and best of all, it came pre-installed on my computer. Keep the great videos coming!
Yes, i am quite interested in everybody's preference myself. I just started and have only really been exposed to MsMM. Also, what are the costs of some of these programs?
It cost me about $150 bucks for Pinnacle Plus. I have found however, that it's all the 3rd party plugins and such that really add the "pizzaz" to what a person wants to do. Pinnacle Plus has the ability to be a pretty robust program, but 1: you need a hell of graphics card, and 2: it's Window's based. 3: Plugin are $$$$ I probably would have saved and bought something more robust. Or buy a Apple. LOL
kevin, nice job on the recent videos. i use imovie hd, both of my computers are now macs. my desktop is an emac and i have a intel mac book for a lap top. very very stable operating system. i movie is fairly easy to learn how to use with many video editing options available. probably robust enough for most people. its well integrated with the other i life programs. imovie is part of the i life programs and the latest version usually is preinstalled on new apples, however future upgrades or versions you have to buy. final cut pro the top of the line is very expensive and very robust, only for the experts. i'm always on the lookout for open source video editing program for macs but haven't come across one yet.
You know of any good open source ware for windows? Yeah I have played with I movie and liked it quite a bit for what I saw. I am sure there is still so many features I need to learn on MMM but I can already tell I want something a bit more custamizable. I would love something where I can control the slicing options to the 1/3 of second.
Thank you for the info and the kind words. I will look forward to future Video contests when we reach over 500 members or so.
Well I just downloaded and installed Adobe Premier and all I can say is Wow. This is way more complex. I have not really had ample time to play with it yet, but just judging from the menu options and layer and plugin options, that this is exactly what I am looking for. Hopefully I'll figure it out within a month. ha ha. Any help on getting the transitions to work properly or at all would be appreciated. Can't wait to see what I can do with this.
I know nothing about Adobe. However, if it's anything like Pinnacle, then transitions work as you go from one scene to another. In Pinnacle, the "transitions" always cut a little of the frame of the "scene" you are transitioning to and from. I'm assuming its a drag and drop program. How much was Adobe?
Ummm, I should put a disclaimer that I did not purchase this so I don't know how much it is. :) But the directors edition is well into the thousands and the plugins are what cost some serious coinage.
I do understand the transitions and their function I am just unsure how to enable the ones in adobe once they are set. I actually also just finished downloading Final Cut Pro with plugins which is another good expensive and robust program. I'll have to play with that one as well.
