I'm shopping for lightweight all-purpose trail knife and would like suggestions since there are so many brands and types.

I know it should have a lockable blade with a square back. Other than that, I'm clueless as to quality and durability. Any suggestions?

With the strick knife laws in Australia I get by with the Swiss Army Camper. It's pretty good. I like the saw and the second little blade is really handy. I thought it was stupid that it had a key hole to tie it to something, but when I lost it the first day of a hike it, i then appreciated the key hole. I liked it so much that I bought another when I got home. It's always attached to my backpack.

With the snakes, spiders, and heat being the biggest killers over here, I don't need anything too big or flash. I sometimes take a machette to help with the lantana.
