OP's Photo Contest: Rules

Hello everybody. I think this little network that Rory has created has really worked out quite well and will hopefully help people even more so in the future. It has been almost a year since the site has been created by him I believe anyways. It has been about 6 months since this group was created and it is finally time for our first official 'Photo Contest'. The rules are as follows.

Starting September 16th(Now), 2008 and final submission in by September 30th at midnight. At that point all of the pictures will be displayed on a thread with a poll. The voting will probably take about a week and should be available to anybody that is a registered member on Hikers Journal.

The Theme is 'GENERAL OUTDOORS' and this could be basically anything. It is up to you to choose your best picture of the outdoors. It can include wildlife, people, campsites and or shelters, landscapes, etc.. ANYTHING. The photo should be taken by the member submitting the photo and should be edited little to none.

Submitting the pictures: use the attach files option in this thread to submit the photo here. Only group members can view and post here and then at judging time the thread will be created in the General Forums with a polling option that ALL HJ Members can view and vote on. You can only submit ONE photo.

Voting: The poll system should work out very well as it should limit each member to one vote or choice. I should be able to hide or display the results as they are happening depending on you guys. if you submit a photo, you should vote for your favorite picture that is NOT your own.

1st Place: The winner will receive some Hikers Journal schwag presented by Rory, the choice of next Photo Contests Theme, and the pride of beating 10-20 other amateur photographers.

don't know what i'm doing wrong, but it loaded up as an attachment, not a picture. oh well hope it still counts. not quite sure how to get a picture here using safari, the apple browser.

Yeah that is fine James. It just loaded as an attachment because you used the "Upload File" option instead of the IMG link post option. It still counts, and that is a nice pic you must have been close.

Hey Kevin, I'm not sure if I have the right place. I was looking at the photos in the group section and kind of wanted to submit a few of my own. Upon looking around, I started to wonder: are all the photos shown are entrants of the last photo contest? So I submitted my two pics to you. They can be entered in the new contest, but they are of people in the outdoors ( not sure if this dq's them or if there might be a category). Also, will they be shown anywhere else regardless of the contest? thanks,
