Thank you for telling me about meetup.com, I didnt realize there was such a site. I found a couple of groups that i joined, but unfortunately there arent many around the Berkshires, atleast near me. My family has a summer home in the Berkshires, whe…
Hey Dahlia! I'm interested in going anywhere LOL, and MA is definitely close enough to Philly for a weekend trip.... lmk if you have any overnight trips in mind....looking for something to do for memorial day!
try meetup.com to find a hiking group,…
I have never been to the Berkshires. You might try and look up the US Speleological association for your area of the country on the net. They should have the resources you are looking for.
Hello, I finished the AT the morning of day 101. Before doing it i suggest talking to everyone who has done it and get a broad perspective of the trail. I would also watch videos that people make of the trail for motivation. Some of them glorify the AT more than they should but it still helps. I watched alot of video and did tons of research before setting out. I made a little video as well capturing what the AT was about for me. Walking to views and walking again.
I did not stop a the Blueberry farm. Hanging out at different places was unfortunately not possible due to my pace. If I did it agin, I probably would spend more time in certian areas. My goal for that specific trip was to determine my physical and mental capacity so that I could plan others.
I guess the hardest part is actually starting. After that it falls into place:)
Well, in my case, it's a FREE place to go! :-) My parents bought some property in an RV resort, parked their RV there so I'm able to go there. There are a lot of hiking trails within a few minutes drive. I took my kids last year and we had a blast, but this time I'm going alone and I can't wait! Then, in the summer, I'm going back with my husband and the kids. (THANKS, MOM!)
I would definitely hike more if I lived somewhere else. I'm headed to NE Georgia in May and will be hiking every day for a week! I can't wait! (Now if I could just force myself to start exercising so I will not huff and puff all the way . . . )
Hi Dahlia,
I do want to go and explore more of the Berkshires. I went in Fall last year and it was captivating. I however don't know where to actually find trails and other info. I live in NYC and it is a little to far away to scout these trail heads on a regular basis. So I am dependent on the group or friends who know the area.
White Springs is up in North Florida, in Suwannee County. Right off Interstate 75, really easy to find. Great hiking, biking, and of course, canoeing and kayaking. It's a great place!
Hi Dahlia,
How are you? I hike with a local group in the tri-state areas all throughout the year. Does the Berkshires in your profile refer to the Berkshires in the US? Last summer I went upto Mt. Alander and it was georgous.
Let me know if you are interested to come out with the group.
Thanks.
