kyle,
i like atlas myself, i have a pair of their 1235's. but i hear good things about gv snowshoes and msr also. what you get depends where you are going. here in se idaho the snow is powdery and dry so i need more , " float ", ( larger deck), t...
kyle,
any luck with this ? there was a spectacular sighting here in se idaho. reportedly the meteor lit up the whole sky for several seconds ! i missed it- sleeping of course.... but it was in the news here.
great new pictures japie and sandra. the backcountry of south africa looks really beautiful ! kind of reminds me of se idaho in some ways. nice of you to share. thats whats neat about the internet.
Absofrickenlutely! ;)
Hold down the right mouse button and drag down to see the topo from more of a hikers viewpoint and follow your favorite trail or prepare for your next excursion ....it really is the best thing since sliced bread for trip plan...
julie, this might be a species of salamander native to idaho, appropriately named, " idaho giant salamander ". either way neat picture ! you just never know what critter you'll find in idaho. one of the reasons i like living here !
i believe the peak is nov. 17-18. but i think it also depends where you live. just do a search or maybe your local weather station has more detailed viewing info for your area.
No worries.
Due to the places I take her and my driving habits, I have always been dead on or early with her recommended maintenance schedule. It's a Jeep thing (you get a feel for it)
Besides the usual oil, brakes etc., she has had 2 water pumps, hubs, some after market (better) bushings, about time to replace the timing belt (think the one in there has been working for 80,000, she is feeling a bit "chunky" now and then) There are some squeaks and groans every now and then though as I have aged with her we share those :-)
indeed it is! unfortunately, the sprout lasted as long as it took the camera to capture the action. pretty damn good timing though! i'd love to get caught up in one of those if it didn't throw me 600 miles afar...XD At least I can look forward to playing in a dust devil ^^
I am glad you enjoyed it. Please share it with others as we are trying to build interest. We are trying to get financial backing and it means we need a lot of people.
We would love to look at your area as the concept of the show is to expose the hidden or less known trails. Do you know areas like the ones in the show that are in your neck of the woods?
Going to the doc today hopefully for the final round of xrays. Keep your fingers crossed...I'm hoping he'll say I can ditch the crutches and start hiking again!
Hey James,
Thanks for your message. Yes, Maine is awesome, and it has many opportunities for great hiking, canoeing, kayaking, etc... I'm sure Idaho is the same!
Rich
Hi James. I just started snowshoeing this year. It's been a blast! I got a used pair of Tubbs Adventure from Play It Again Sports to make sure I liked it before spending too much money. I just moved up to West Bend from the Milwaukee area this past fall. I love having the Ice Age Trail and northern Kettles so close. As for geocaching, my boyfriend got me a Garmin High Sensitivity Etrex (the yellow one) last summer. I'd have to say it does a pretty good job, even with the tree cover here. Any tips on light weight backpacking? And why did you move to Idaho?
