Well, I really took my time in deciding which one to get. I have ended up with a JVC. The model # is GZ-MG680BU if anyone is interested. It holds 28 to 150 hrs of Rec. time. (128 GB) And I have a battery that has around 5.5 hours of life. Recharge...
Thank you guys! Your tips have been more than helpful. I have a couple of cameras that I will be checking out in a few days. I will let you know what I am thinking about getting and would love to hear any input on the models I have checked out. :-)
The biggest issue with the flip cameras is their ergonomics. If you are trying to do anything other than dead on shots and basic pan and tilt you can run in to issues. Also you need to figure out if you intend to use a tripod or monopod. These can...
The HD Flip is a good idea. I think you get about 60 minutes on that. However, you don't necessarily have to shoot in HD to get real clear video. Don't be fooled by HD. I bring a small lightweight (Memory Stick- 40 Gig non HD) video camera and car...

The PCT would be really cool.....I saw some miles on the CDT over the past few years and have gained a little respect for the journey. I can only dream of backpacking all the way through. I'd like to hear more about it. Me, well I missed my October trip to the Guadalupe's, but I plan on being there to bring in the New Year. It's been about four months since I've seen a summit and I am having some serious withdrawals. I feel the need for some altitude!
So what gear do you carry? 17 lb base weight is pretty good but you can still get down to 10 lb and have a great deal of comfort. I used to think anything under 25 lb was asking to sleep on roots and rocks and being cold. I am honestly more comfortable now than I was then both hiking and camping except for no longer carrying a chair.
