Master Maine Wilderness Guide, School Teacher & AT Trail Maintainer
Rich is a Registered Master Maine Recreation Guide and has been trip leading and guiding in Maine for over 19 years. Born in Anchorage, Alaska, he grew up and has spent most of his life in the great state of Maine. He has earned B.S. degrees in both Management & Accounting from the University of Maine, and is now working to complete his Masters degree in Education. Rich is proud member of the Maine Wilderness Guides Organization and the Maine Appalachian Trail Club.
From September to June, Rich is an elementary Social Studies teacher and has a great passion for working and teaching children. Before getting into education, he spent over 14 years at L.L. Bean.
Rich and his wife Cheryl, who is also a professional guide, live in a small log home in the woods in Mount Vernon, Maine and use their home as a base camp for guiding operations. With two young daughters who love the outdoors, and their energetic black lab "Baxter", they can usually be found hiking, backpacking or canoeing on a "Maine Trail".
As a family, the Aspinalls maintain a section of Appalachian Trail in Maine, near the Kennebec River. It has always been a very rewarding experience to give back to the trail!
Together as a team, Rich and Cheryl own and operate "Maine Trails Guide Service", www.metrails.com, a company that Rich started 11 years ago. They offer exciting outdoor experiences on several of Maine's waterways and hiking trails. During the summer months, they guide almost every week in Northern, Maine, and have had too many wonderful outdoor experiences to name them all here!
