Hey Ruth & Jim,
I enjoyed checking out your photos, especially the waterfalls! My mom lives in Cincinnatti 1/2 the year (the 1/2 half in Maine), and I hear that spring has arrived! My wife and I are still watching the snow melt in our yard in Maine, hoping for a quick end to our cabin fever!

Have not had time to do as much hiking as would like to, as well.
I have been working on transforming our screened in porch into a sun room.
the contractor said it would take 3 weeks & that was at the beginning of Oct.
Well, I am painting new sheet rock at present. So it looks as if the interior will be done soon. There will be light at the end of the tunnel after that.
Have a good holiday with family & friends & a blessed 2009.

Been to hot to get out much. And am doing the hiking around the ol house as yard work has beckoned me of late. Using the 4 wheeler to haul off the firewood the storms have blown in the yard. Building up a nice stash of kindling for a campfire with smores sometime soon.
Spent a short time on Lake Oconee for a little Kayaking. Tried a new finger cove by the RP marina. Tried out a Hobie Cat , sweet. Gives you upper and lower body workout.
Thanks for the link. I was just up at Oconee this past weekend. Have you seen the new movie theater going up just down the road from DWLO (by the Publix)? It should be pretty cool.
Where is the coolest place you have ever backpacked, hiked or camped?
Rabun Bald 2008 May
Where else have you backpacked, hiked or camped?
June 7, 2008 with OH family and friends hiked around Hocking Hills State Park in Chillicothe OH. Terrific even though the temperatures got to 97. With the ability to hike in shaded hardwoods , come across several caves and four waterfalls it was an awesome day. We felt great after completing about 5 miles. We chose some short cuts as we are really still getting back into the sport of it!
Hiked the Rabun Bald for my birthday in May 2008, great experience and what a time in life to pick up this sport again. This was a true hike no slacking allowed.
Hiking waterfalls of North GA and SC in March of 2008. While riding scenic highways on the Wing ,Jim, my husband found places to come back to hike. Geocaches also helped us plan our routes.
Hiked parts of Natchez Trace while riding it on our Wing in May 2007. Small short trails to visit historic spots within the interior.
Urban hiked Antietem National Park in VA in Fall of 2006.
What outdoor activities are you interested in?
Geocaching and now just started Kayaking on lakes and slow rivers.
Just got this flash from Camp Fire Girl and classmate Marti: http://www.smokiesinformation.org/videoblog/
click on Mart she just finished the 900 miles of trails in the Great Smokey Mountains. Pretty cool.
