new pair of snowshoes

need help with a new pair of snowshoes. the ones i have are really wide and long hard to move around in, any pointers on what kind to get. i would like to go on trails, fields.

no i managed to flub the date and was looking on the 18th instead, wondering why i wasnt seeing any shooting stars :( :(

i like atlas myself, i have a pair of their 1235's. but i hear good things about gv snowshoes and msr also. what you get depends where you are going. here in se idaho the snow is powdery and dry so i need more , " float ", ( larger deck), t...

anyone know about the Menan Buttes in Idaho? Have any cool pictures?
i'm thinking hiking the trail in the winter is kinda cool, the views really open up and also we can see into the forest better.

any luck with this ? there was a spectacular sighting here in se idaho. reportedly the meteor lit up the whole sky for several seconds ! i missed it- sleeping of course.... but it was in the news here.
I saw them about 8 yrs ago in connecticut.it was so cold out that night but they were fun to watch.

in July 08 the monsoon was everywhere no matter what state i was in rain and lightning and thunder followed by 3 pm. twas very pretty
has anyone bumped into a couple from Colorado southbounding blonde hair both of them and the guy plays a mean flute? i recon they would be in PA or upper VA by now. I met them at MT Washington in July.
i dont reuse anything. i used my mountain chair padding for my tent, but then i wasnt sleeping well. so now i just sit on the ground and bring my pad again. i dont do to many multidays anymore.

- Wind Rivers, Tetons, AT, MT Washington half traverse, Canyonlands(maze,needles), Yellowstone, Badlands, Big Horns, Katahdin and Baxter Park. Adirondacks, Divide Mt in Montana, Mt Whitney , Sand Dunes NP, Handies pk, Mt Tuk, Mt Borah (hardest hike, scramble for me) , bluff in southwest Nebraska (that was really cold), mt marcy, algonquin, Franconia notch, Mt Mansfield, Camel Hump, Lonesome Lake NH , Acadia NP, Mono Lake, Panum Crater, White Mt., Yosemite Half Dome (wow), Kings Canyon fail due to severe alt sickness. Lassen Pk., Death Valley. Brace Mt, Alander MT, The Catskills, Monument Mt, MA , Ruby mtns

Bryan DeLay said… - Hey Kyle, I like backpacking in the winter, but it can be challenging. Particularly in the south where we can have 35 degrees and rain all day. But you are right the views in the Appalachians are much better in the winter.

- No grizz the bear did not come down while I was watching. I took this pic while actually driving through the GSMNP. There were several people standing around taking pictures.
