need help with a new pair of snowshoes. the ones i have are really wide and long hard to move around in, any pointers on what kind to get. i would like to go on trails, fields.

i'm thinking hiking the trail in the winter is kinda cool, the views really open up and also we can see into the forest better.

kyle, any luck with this ? there was a spectacular sighting here in se idaho. reportedly the meteor lit up the whole sky for several seconds ! i missed it- sleeping of course.... but it was in the news here.

I saw them about 8 yrs ago in connecticut.it was so cold out that night but they were fun to watch.

cant really say the coolest because most have been great
Where else have you backpacked, hiked or camped?
Wind Rivers, Tetons, AT, MT Washington half traverse, Canyonlands(maze,needles), Yellowstone, Badlands, Big Horns, Katahdin and Baxter Park. Adirondacks, Divide Mt in Montana, Mt Whitney , Sand Dunes NP, Handies pk, Mt Tuk, Mt Borah (hardest hike, scramble for me) , bluff in southwest Nebraska (that was really cold), mt marcy, algonquin, Franconia notch, Mt Mansfield, Camel Hump, Lonesome Lake NH , Acadia NP, Mono Lake, Panum Crater, White Mt., Yosemite Half Dome (wow), Kings Canyon fail due to severe alt sickness. Lassen Pk., Death Valley. Brace Mt, Alander MT, The Catskills, Monument Mt, MA , Ruby mtns
What outdoor activities are you interested in?
biking, hiking, view watching, would love to horseback ride, running, overnighting, learning to be a fan of multi-day trips. photography, snowshoeing, campfires, canoes, scrambles

Still not sure when the 2 week AT trip is going to happen. Trying to figure out schedules around work and classes. Overlapping vaca time is very minimal.

Hey Kyle, I like backpacking in the winter, but it can be challenging. Particularly in the south where we can have 35 degrees and rain all day. But you are right the views in the Appalachians are much better in the winter.

No grizz the bear did not come down while I was watching. I took this pic while actually driving through the GSMNP. There were several people standing around taking pictures.
