Rory Partalis What's Up With The New Features?

Hey everyone, hope things are going well and you're doing a lot of exploring. I've added a few new features to the site, including gifts and something called "Qik." In case you've never heard of it, Qik is a live video service and can be used by people with those super duper smart phones. I don't know if any of you are interested in using this, but it was easy to add to the site and I thought it might be cool if it was even used once. So, if there are any of you out there with an iPhone 3GS, an… Continue

GonzoJohn Trail Shorts: Stories from Kentuckiana Trails

Mother Instinct It was rather startling. I was just strolling along the trail, enjoying the greenery when to my left there was an explosion of feathers and noise. After flinching, I watched a small brownish bird, no bigger than a child's fist, fly directly down the trail in front of me, and land, all the while screeching and squawking. After it landed, it flopped about helplessly, continuing its alarming cries. At first, I thought it was injured, but as I approached, it gathered itself… Continue

Tom Mangan Oops, sorry, I already have a hiking blog

Lest the keepers of this fair site think this is a spam post: Two-Heel Drive has been chronicling my hikes in the Bay Area since 2004. I worked as a hiking columnist for the San Jose Mercury News for over a year and currently write freelance reviews of boutique gear mak… Continue

Joshua Cocks Illinbah - Binna Burra, Queensland

Illinbah is a trek I've done plenty of times before. It's 19km round circuit. The track drops down into the valley, follows the Coomera River, stops at the old logging town (ghost town) of Illinbah and then works its way back along the valley wall, back to Binna Burra. Taking two days to do this one day hike allows us to stop for a swim, a rest, we can explore off the track for a bit, and talk to anyone we bump into on the way. At 5:30am we woke to my alarm, this time treating ourselves to a 20… Continue

Sherman Cahal An Ohio wonder: Clifton Gorge

Clifton Gorge
Authored by Sherman Cahal on March 4, 2009 at American Byways The central segment of Ohio is a relatively placid, dotted with homesteads and expanse farms that live on to what seems like to infinity. That's why it is a surprise to come upon a gem such as Clifton Gorge snuggled amongst these farmlands in a untypical location, with it's po… Continue
